Nichols Stallion. 45 MK II With Dyna - Mite In Clip Cap Gun Set W/Bullets

  Nichols “Stallion .45 Mark II with Dyna-Mite in Clip” Cap Gun Pistol Set with 6 Bullets in Original Box  Nichols Industries, Inc., Jacksonville , TX. Circa  1955-62. Die-Cast with plastic grips. Large pistol approx. 12” long. Dyna-Mite measures approx. 3-1/4” long.This presentation gift set contains the second version Nichols .45 MK II cap pistol and a Nichols Dyna-Mite derringer, both with their bullets. The box has some shelf wear but both guns have... never been cap-fired and work perfectly. The Stallion .45 bullets show no cap wear, residue or flash marks. The right side extra grip for the .45 is missing but the left one is included.  This large diecast, 12"  long revolving cylinder toy cap pistol is a classic Nichols design. It is marked “MK II” because it is the second version of the Stallion .45. The first Stallion .45 was a slightly different gun that featured rearing horse grips with red jewels. This MK II usually came with a black set of grips on the gun and an extra set of white grips in the box. The white “pearl” grips are included on this gun but the black set is missing. The white grips have no cracks, chips or breaks. The “Circle N” grip inserts are original the right side. All grips are very clean with no cracks, chips or breaks. These guns were designed to load and use these large 2-piece cap-firing Nichols bullets (included). Round caps are inserted in the brass casing, which is placed over the base metal cartridge. The “bullets” are then loaded in to the cylinder. This gun loads 6 bullets which are included in their original white plastic clip. These bullets are unfired bit have some tarnish on their outer brass-color cases (be careful polishing – this is not real brass – just a finish). This gun works well with a strong hammer fall and the cylinder revolves with each pull of the trigger. The shell ejector (under the barrel) works well and provides added realism. The nickel silver finish has a few minor scuffs from box wear but no spots of loss or flaking and have seen no play wear. The frame, hammer and barrel have filigree ornamentation. The Nichols “Dyna-Mite” derringer with holster and bullet cartridges measures approx. 3-1/4” long and includes 2 two-piece 3/4” long cartridges in the holster loops. The cartridge in the gun is in mint condition and has never been fired. The bullets in the holster have light cap wear inside the cartridges and the brass-color casings have some age/tarnish. This derringer has been fired very little, if at all and is very clean. It has no cracks or breaks and the bright nickel finish is clean with no loss. The action functions perfectly and this gun cocks and fires with a strong hammer fall. The white plastic grips have no cracks or breaks. The Circle “N” logo on the white holster pocket is designed to fit on any belt. The plastic holster is very clean with no cracks or breaks.  The box cover has some wear with 2 broken corners and a tear and small 1-3/4” missing section on one side. The cover has detached from the bottom at the back seam and there are some wrinkles and scuffs on the top. The box bottom has some fading and scuffs but no broken corners. The box insert has some bends and small tears but is complete with an original price sticker. This set will make an excellent addition to any Nichols or toy cap gun collection. Overall Mint and Very Good condition guns in a Good condition box.References: Backyard Buckaroos/Collecting Western Toy Guns, J.
