TWO VICTOR " MONARCH " RECORDS 1904 " Stuttering Coon " - " Minstrels No. 5 " V, & V -
Item History & Price
VICTOR MONARCH 2755: COLLINS AND HARLAN, "THE STUTTERING COON."  ...;This 1904 song was written by Hughie Cannon, best known for his, unbelievably, STILL popular "Won't You Come Home, Bill Bailey." The record is a sturdy V+.
VICTOR MONARCH 1827: THE VICTOR MINSTRELS, "AN EVENING WITH THE MINSTRELS, NO. 5" "Having Fun With The Orchestra." This is one of an eight-part series, recreating an entire minstrel show in twenty-five minutes. There are NO blackface comedians or singers on this! In fact, it's a dialogue between a wise-acre performer up on stage, and the German orchestra leader down in the pit! "Turn the dogs loose, Professor!" The record is the scarred survivor of over a century, in V- condition. But it plays! The fact of its survival is remarkable indeed.
Both have patent notices dated "1904."
*****These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
