German sea raiders countered by 50 MPH motor boats.Newest prize packet to come out of Churchill's Royal Navy grab bag is a motor torpedo boat for coastal patrol and anti-submarine work These speedsters can do better than 40 knots and being highly maneuverable are extremely difficult targets for aircraft or surface craft. Their wooden construction and light draught make them almost completely immune from danger by mines. Armed with multiple guns and a torpedo (discharged from the stern) they are formidable opponents to both hostile aircraft and U-boats. The illustration, based on an actual happening, shows one of these new vessels - believed to be the fastest "warship " afloat -- destroying a German bomber attempting to attack British fishermen in the North Sea. Photo measures 11.25 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated 05-19-NONE. PHOTO FRONT

Q: Can I just download a digital version instead?
A: No, we sell only vintage originals and do not make or distribute any copies, including digital ones.
Q: Do you combine shipping and invoices?A: Due to eBay limitations, we cannot combine items won on our different seller IDs for a single shipping charge. Q: How quickly do you ship the items once paid?A: We ship within one business day after your payment clears. If you do not receive an "order shipped" email from us by the close of the second business day from submitting payment, please e-mail us via eBay messaging. Q: How do you make sure my photograph arrives safely?A: We package each order between two cross-corrugated pieces of cardboard to ensure that the package is as difficult to bend as possible. We then wrap each order in a plastic sheet to help protect against moisture. We want you to rest assured that we take every precaution to ensure that the photograph you receive will be in the same condition in your care as it was in ours.
Q: Will the "Historic Images" watermark be on my photo when I receive it?A: No. This is a digital watermark we use to protect our images. It is not printed on the photo. We do not copy or reproduce any photographs -- every item is a unique vintage piece that was housed in a news archive.Q: Can I use this photograph in my book/blog/website?A: The short answer is no. There is no transfer of copyright for republication or reproduction with these photographs when you purchase them, and only photographs taken before 1923 are currently automatically in the public domain. Permission from the copyright holder, which usually can be identified from the back of each photo, must be sought to republish or reproduce the image for any purpose.Q: Do you relist items (in case I miss an auction ending)?A: Auction items that receive no bids are relisted in our store (historicimages-store on eBay) as a fixed-price item and at a higher price than the starting auction price.
