Large Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Quanzhou Stoneware Jar I have been collecting for many years now, mostly Chinese / Japanese ceramics, but also various other pieces. It is time to thin out my collection to free up some space. This big stoneware jar was made during the 12th - 14th century, probably at the Quanzhou kilns in Fujian province, where many such wares were made for export around South-east Asia. It is quite "heavily-potted", has a thick mouth and four sturdy loop handles space...d regularly around the shoulder. The upper body is coated in a thin glaze that has not adhered particularly well to the body and degraded, discoloured and flaked from the surface in places. The base and lower body remain unglazed, revealing the pale grey stoneware body. Diameter 20 cm (8 inches). Although there is some degraded glaze, this jar is in good condition with no sign of repair or restoration. I am showing detailed photos of this piece so please look carefully and if you have any questions please ask before you bid, not afterwards !All my items are being sold by auction so please do not ask for a "buy it now" price.****** There is no need to wait until the last minute - if you like this item, please place your bid now. *******All items will be securely packed and sent by a tracked delivery service, probably on the same day as payment, but certainly within two days of payment being received. I can do combined packing & postage if more than one item is bought at the same time, so this can be a real saving.
