Here I am offering a fine antique portrait miniature painting, dating to the early 1800's (about 1805). British in origin, attributed to Thomas Richmond, (1771-1837).
Please excuse the photos, it was hard to photograph through the bowed glass. The miniature is even nicer than it comes out in the photos.
The sitter is a intelligently looking middle aged lady, her brown curly hair under a bonnet. She may have been a widow, dressed in a very fine dark brown dress (note the... fine piping) with white lace insert, a bow on her chin and a thick double gold necklace. Sky background.
High quality painting.
Old frame, may be the original, with bowed glass.I did not open the miniature, there could be info about the sitter or artist inside.
Size: Framed about 3" x 2.5".
