DescriptionUp for your consideration is a Japanese hand-carved boxwood netsuke depicting the legendary bout of sumo wrestlers ...Kawazu Saburo and Matano Goro. However, Kawazu, who knew a lot of techniques of hand grips, grabbed an opponent by the neck and tangled one of his legs. Due to dexterity and ingenuity Kawazu won, and his famous throw, named in his honor, entered the canonical 48 techniques of early sumo.
