This is for an interesting and really well preserved little French miniature antique travelling writing box from around 1800. It comprises inkwell, dip pen and seal and it has a red Moroccan leather cover. Inside there are compartments either side to hold the two glass inkwells, one in the centre for wafer seals and at the front there is a compartment that holds a unique travelling dip pen and seal combination. The seals handle unscrews and is reversed to make a full sized pen with the... fixed silver nib, i personally have never seen this combination in a travelling set like this before. The tiny square glass inkwells are as small as they could be, they have matching silver plated tops with stoppers underneath and they are in excellent condition with no cracks to the glass and no dents in the metals. Each inkwell only stands 15mm tall by 20mm (0.75") square at the bases. The seal is 55mm (2.25") long by 12mm (0.5") x 10mm at the matrix and the pen when fixed for use is 85mm (3.25") long. The travel box is also in fabulous condition with no loss of leather and a couple of small ink marks only. The box measures 65mm (2.5") by 40mm (1.5") by 25mm (1") deep.
