Vintage Lux Lebanon Wind Up Alarm Clock New In Box Pedestal Early 60's
Up for bid and for your consideration is a vintage Lux "Lebanon" wind up alarm clock. Seems brand new in the box!
This cute clock would be at home with your vintage decor or would be a nice addition to any vintage Lux clock collection.
Here are the details:
The clock is 4-5/8 inches tall, almost 4-1/4 wide and 2 inches deep at the base.
The case is cream colored painted metal. The ...bezel around the face is gold colored metal. There is a gold colored reeded decorative spacer between the face and the bezel. It sits on a very short pedestal base.
The crystal feels like plastic and is in excellent condition with no scuffs and no scratches.
The face is printed on heavy paper or paper board and is creamy white. It has black numbers a black dashed chapter ring. The dashes are at 1 minute intervals. The face is in beautiful condition.
The hands are painted with black. The alarm set indicator is below the 12 and the set hand is painted black also.
The face is marked "Lux Lebanon" in gold, under the hand center post. Surrounding the hands post are 4 gold concentric rings.
The winders, set knobs, and fast/slow adjustment and alarm shut off button are located on the back of the clock.
The back is stamped Lux Clock Mfg. Co. Lebanon, Tenn, USA.
I believe this clock is from the early late 50's or early 60's. From what I can find, the Lux clock Manufacturing. Co. was bought by the Robertshaw Controls Company in 1962 and this clock has no reference to Robertshaw on the face or back.
The clock tries to work, it will tick for a short time, then stop. It is wound tight. The alarm works.
The box is a little over 5 inches tall, 4-1/2 wide and 2-3/4 inches deep.
It is a bright green color printed on creamy white cardboard. It was probably white but has yellowed slightly with age. It is in nice condition with some cracking at the seam on the flaps, but it is solid!
It has both of its cardboard inserts to hold the clock in place and comes with guarantee and instructions for use sheet. It also includes its little price tag which was designed to hang off the alarm winder. Notice that the price is more expensive west of the Rockies!
This clock would make a wonderful addition to any vintage Lux clock collection or period decor. Maybe you know someone who would love this as a gift. Why not bid now?
