This stunning Japanese iron tsuba (shape 11) shows two figures (one large - walking a tiger and one small - sitting on the ground) - having an encounter in a thicket of trees and shrubs. The gold, copper and silver inlays are large and impressive. The back shows a tree with scattered blossoms and leafy plants. The tsuba is in great condition with appropriate wear for its age. It is 3 1/4 inches high, 3 inches wide and weighs about 5 ounces. My father bought this as an antique in the 19...60’s. There is no reserve on this tsuba. Payment should be made through PayPal.
