Vintage C1910 " Famous " (Famos) Typewriter With Instructions & Box

This scarce, unusual "Famous" typewriter dates from around 1910 and was the USA of the German "Famos" typewriter.The machine was made by the "Gustav Tietze AG Company of Leipzig, Germany.The paper you were typing on was attached to the cylindrical platen, which rotated for letter spacing and horizontally for line spacing, to hold the paper in place during this action a pin punctures the paper as the letter is typed.There are no splits or cracks to the metal of the machine and it has r...etained much of its' original black japanned paint however, there are the usual marks, scuffs and scratches that you would associate with a machine of this age.The type wheel has retained a good colour with the letters, numbers and symbols having a good colour, as does the name and the two flowers.The platen slides along with knob at the front and it revolves as it should when the knob is pressed.The type wheel revolves as it should, unfortunately, the wire to the front which clicks in to the serrations by the letters etc, has become detached, however, the wire is still present but loose.The machine has its' instructions and card board box, the box is in good order with no splits or tears, although there are the usual scuffs and marks that you would expect and there are some small losses to the paper edging.This rare little machine would be a great addition to any collection.
