Estimated manufacture between 1943 and 1944. XXXXX History: An E-6B Dalton Dead Reckoning Computer. It is a type of slide rule used by Navigators; These flight computers are used during flight planning (on the ground before takeoff) to aid in calculating fuel burn, wind correction, time en route, and other items. In th...e air, the flight computer can be used to calculate ground speed, estimated fuel burn and updated estimated time of arrival over target. The back is designed for wind vector solutions, i.e., determining how much the wind is affecting one's speed and course. These E-6B Dead Reckoning Computers flew with Navigators on B-17, 25 Bombers, and many more attack and support aircraft during the WWII, They are still used by Pilots and Navigators today.
