Spectacular antiqueChinese Balin Huang Dong stone boulder 巴林黃凍石.Large and heavy stone boulder with fantastic colour and pattern. Thepattern resembles graduating clouds. The stone boulder is cut in a quarter moon shape. It is smoothly polishedbut not lacquered or coloured. The colour you see is the colour of the entirestone.It is also very heavy weighing nearly one kilogramme.Balin Huang Dong stone (literally translated as Ba Lin Cold Yellowstone) is very rare and only found i...n Barin, Mongolia. Its composition issimilar to chicken blood stone. It is a very hard stone and is most suitablefor carving seals. Balin Huang Dong stones were favoured by scholars and connoisseursin China.This stone was bought during one of the touristy Silk Road Trips yearsago and I lugged it back to Australia because the colour was so brilliant.It is in excellent condition and great as a display piece.Simple plastic stand.Measurement: 10.5 cm (L) x 3.5 cm (W) x 13 cm (W)Weight: 910 gramsAs in most antiques, there are inevitably some imperfections that are hard to detect.
