One (1) Matchbox Lesney Cadillac Sixty Special 27 cX; lilac body, pink roof, gloss crimson painted metal base, silvered trim sprayed front and rear, red tail lights, clear window insert, 9 x 20 silver plastic wheels front and rear, A type unbraced front rivet post, A type trim as above, B type interior of bonnet with arrow cast. Stannard cat...alogue casting code 6 of 16. This model is in very near mint condition. It was introduced in July, 1960. It was sold in 8 variations based upon body, roof, window and wheel colour combinations (Mack). Mack does not list this particular clear window casting. It is approximately 69 mm in overall length. Please carefully examine the high definition photos for the nearly flawless virgin original paintwork detail. The clear window insert is clean and clear as new. The crimson paintwork on the base is immaculate. The silver plastic wheels show no wear from use. There are no casting or mechanical defects. This unfaded lilac Cadillac Sixty Special will display as new. Stannard says "the body colours of this model vary in shades and are subject to fading from direct light...faded models can be checked by inspecting the base of the body and interior where the paint [colour] will be original. It is quite common to find two different types of wheel on this model., since the front and rear wheels were fitted at different stages in production. The front wheels were riveted to the base before the base was fitted to the body, but the rear wheels were held in place by the body [fender skirts] and [were] fitted at the same time as the base." They are constructed of correct weight tag board. They are laser printed so they will be somewhat glossier than an original Lesney era box, which was printed with lithography. The paintwork is, for all practical purposes, close to new. Original factory flaws will be noted in the listing if they exist. All original accessories are present.
NM = Near Mint. Restoration unnecessary. The paintwork is nearly perfect, clean, shiny and bright on all exterior surfaces (except for possibly the base, if painted). Original, virgin paintwork approaches 100% with the possible exception of any factory paint flaws, very minor spot paint work restoration, or very minor storage (not impact) wear. Negligible rolling use of the wheels may be present. The model is mechanically perfect. All original appliques and accessories are present.
EXC = Excellent. Minor paintwork and/or applique imperfections may exist, usually due to improper storage, not play, and will be evident in the photos. Paintwork imperfections may have been restored. Decals or other appliques may have been replaced with replicas. For this grade, no mechanical problems exist, including windows, if applicable, and no such repairs have ever been performed, in our opinion. Minor wheel use may be evident. All original accessories are usually present for this grade. If not, what is missing or replaced with replica parts will be disclosed. 3.
