Greetings from South Florida ~ Here we offer for your consideration ~ A Antique~CHINESE~Hand carved~ Wooden ~LOTUS form~ Scholar's Object ~ STAND. I am NOT sure of if its purpose. Possibly used as a brush rest......Or.....I am leaving that up to the professional Collector of Fine CHINESE OBJECTS to know its TRUE PURPOSE! I can tell you that this wooden stand is beautifully carved, intricate in form, and detail. Obviously sculpted by a VERY skilled artisan. I believe it to be in t...he form of a lotus or lily pad. The wood is possibly ZITAN. A very deep, dark, rich brown. That goes from a lighter color in the center, and becomes darker towards its base. The lily pad on top with intertwining branches or vines, with flowering buds at each end. You can position it a full 360, as the design is in its entirety!! Atleast a century old, possibly more. There has been NO paint tough ups or restoration. 100% ORIGINAL, having a beautiful, un-touched, naturally occurring patina from age and use. You can see that it was used as several of the area's show wear. A GREAT ADDITION to your own collection of FINE ANTIQUE CHINESE SCHOLARS OBJECTS!!!
