Our items are mostly Victorian and are not new and there may be imperfections due to the age of the item which we try to show in the pictures. We try to describe our items as accurately as we see them but please remember that pictures say a 1000 words. We photograph from every angle possible. Our pictures are part of our description. Our items are all used, mostly Victorian and a few vintage. They have defects. Not the first item we sell is perfect.
Up for auction is a Victorian teapot or coffee pot by Reed and Barton Silver Company from the late 1800's or early 1900's. The design on the tea pot is exceptional featuring the "Wedding March" or Greek Wedding. What is so appropriate is that the spout features the figural design which I believe is what might be the "Talking Tree", a form of sapient tree in mythologies and stories especially in Greek Mythology. All the trees in Dodona, a city in North Western Greece became capable of prophecy and spoke and delivered oracies while they stood in the forest. Once the trees were cut and built into the ship Argo, the wood warmed of approaching calamities and upcoming danger. The rustling of the leaves of an oak tree was regarded as the voice of Zeus. The slender tea pot is lovely standing about 10.5 inches tall and 7 inches from the tip of the spout to the handle. The base of the handle is attached to the body of the tea pot with bird talons and the base of the spout features the Talking Tree design. The body of the tea pot features the wedding march design. I don't know if Reed and Barton has an actual name for the design but it is lovely. The inside of the teapot is clean and usable and there are no visible repairs. We will supply additional information and pictures if the buyer requests such. We do not believe in Buyers or Sellers Remorse. If we sell an item for less than worth we will still ship as part of our agreement but if you purchase an item we expect you to live up to your part of the bargain. Please ask questions.
