VINTAGE GENERAL QUICK - AID FIRE EXTINGUISHER - " REA " RAILROAD EXPRESS AGENCY

This is an empty vintage brass fire extinguisher made by the General Detroit Co. and it is the model 95HD. It is the 1 1/2 qt. size and is about 17" long and 3" in diameter. It comes with it's original mounting bracket which has a new coat of paint. It has been polished and lacquered and displays very well. The T pump handle has a new coat of paint as when new and it moves in and out freely. This was made for the Railway Express Company "REA" and it has "PROPERTY OF R...Y.EX.AGY." embossed in the brass above the label. This would have been used on a REA delivery truck. I will include a vintage ad which shows a vintage International truck with REA markings. REA was the top package delivery company in the U.S. at one time, even bigger that UPS. The relied on trans moving their freight from city to city and then doing the local delivery in their own trucks. They failed to modernize and stuck with trains even as trains couldn't keep up this long haul trucks. They made an attempt with air freight service but it was to little to late.
