A ( just under ) 6 1/2" tall beautiful deep COBALT BLUE colored Rare Square shaped Owl Drug Co. bottle. Note that this bottle is embossed with a LARGE embossed bird on it. The embossed bird on it is LARGE, over 4" tall from base of mortar to top of owl's head. This is a hand Blown Into Mold bottle (BIM) with a tooled top, dating back to the very late 1800's - early 1900's era. Bottle has an embossed funny looking old Owl perched on a druggist's m...ortar, stirring a pestle. Mortar is embossed "TODCo / TRADE MARK". TODCo. stands for "The Owl Drug Co." Condition: This bottle is in GOOD SOLID condition. It has content stain and outside etching (patina), that give it that old rustic look, the look of a bottle that has withstood a century of time. It is a structurally sound bottle, NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc., so it is a PRIME CANDIDATE for a professional cleaning/polishing as the embossing is VERY WELL defined. This is the smaller 1/4 pound 6 inch tall size. They held a variety of what is referred to as 'salts', medicinal salts such as Vichy Salts, Effervescing Salts, Kissingen Salt, also we've seen them with Phosphate of Soda and granular Citrate of Magnesia labels on them. There are three differently embossed birds on the two sizes, so a full collection would constitute 6 bottles, a small and large, each one having a distinctively looking embossed owl on the glass. As you can see, they are very attractive looking bottle with a large embossed owl on them. The bird that is embossed on this bottle was initially named 'Sarah' in the old book on Owl Drug Co. bottles. These square blue bottles don't often come up for sale and when they do, they usually don't last too long as the demand exceeds the supply.
