This remarkable small Moghul period Indian Katar (punch dagger) probably dates to the late Moghul period c. 1790. It is made of iron or steel and is elaborately inlaid with gold. At some point in its existence it has been allowed to rust making the gold inlay stand out all the more. It has a tapered fuller blade and is 7.25" long. A little of the original polished blued steel shows through. The gold is inlaid on both sides of the two pronged handle as well... as on the double median braces and on the inside of the cross guard and on the ricasso. Stock Number SAY-241
