Reference Number: Avaluer:15436480 | Country/Region of Manufacture: United States |
Year: 1969 | Type: NASA APOLLO SELECTED EQUIPMENT |
Just for clarity’s sake, this was never flown onApollo and has nothing to do with NASA, except that it is the same exact age, type, brand and model that NASA selected for Apollo crew’s onboard entertainmentequipment use.... so we’ll call it "Repro."This unit comes with its rechargeable original NiCad battery pack, which hap...pened to employ soldered in AA batteries... so it could be adapted to receive standard AA batteries using off-the-shelf electronics battery clips, etc.... It originally came with a battery charger, but this is not included. My unit does have removable AA battery capability so I'm fairly confident this unit's battery pack can be adapted, if desired.
NASA removed their unit's flammable trim and replaced it with gray tape and Velcro tabs for zero Gsecuring and nomenclature plates. See reference photos (not included).
Condition:- Displays expected wear of 50 years with somescratches.- Untested function.
Dimensions: Player is approximately 6” x 4.5” x 1.5”Offered as found... Could use some renovationcosmetically, etc. It is probably in justabout same condition as the actual flown examples today, I’d say...Fun piece of 1960s off the shelf NASA Apollosupport equipment! The unit figured prominently in many onboard TVbroadcasts and 16mm onboard film, including Apollo 11 and especially Apollo 13(The movie had got the onscreen type wrong... First Man got it right..). Fun addition for your NASA Apollo collectiondisplay. I keep mine on the desk... I love that you can have off-the-shelf NASA Apollo used equipment. Neat to see it just sitting there.
Some photos are shown for reference only and are not included with the unit. Looks like Apollo 9's unit did not have the data plate on it.
Only one on all of eBay, ...!
Thanksand good luck! PleaseNote: I get to the post office, once a week, onTuesdays... so, please expect the shipping notice accordingly, OK? Feelfree to message me an offer, if you like...Have alook at my other items...! Thanks again...Reference photo credits: NASM, NASA
