This is one of those specimen that will be immediately recognized as petrified wood by even the most novice of observers. It is not cut or polished since nothing would be gained by cutting off an end (a procedure which would result in a shorter specimen). It me...asures 1 inch in cross section and 4.5 inches in length. This limb section features an exceptionally twisted and gnarly character. We generally identify the diggings as McDermitt, Nevada, which is both the closest inhabited place as well as the access point to the dirt roads leading to the diggings. However, the extensive diggings are just across the border in Oregon (Malheur County), but it takes a GPS to find that out. There are no signs on the dirt roads announcing "Entering Oregon." We specialize in petrified wood and plant fossils which are accurately identified as to locality of origin and family, genus or species. We don’t guess and when we do not know, we say so! Your specimen will come with a label identifying the common name of the tree, the Latin name of the genus or species, the locality where it was collected, the formation and age of the material and any other pertinent information we have gleaned from our literature search.Buyer to pay $5.00 for economy shipping to addresses in the United States.
