Very Rare and original 1930’s British American Brewing Co. (of Windsor, Ontario) Tin Lithographed Advertising Tip Tray featuring the ever popular "Ugly Waiter".
This wonderful, Tin Litho Beer Tray measures 4 1/4" in diameter and features a fantastic image of a very thin, large headed and buck toothed waiter carrying a Beer Tray with a long neck bottle of “Cincinnati Cream” Beer. Text in the image area below the waiter reads "Who Wants the Handsome Waite...r?". Text on the raised rim reads "Cincinnati Cream" at the top and "British American Brewing Co. / Windson, Ont." at the bottom. Text on each side of the raised rim read "Dublin Porter" and "Half and Half".
Known to collectors variously as the Hampden Handsome Waiter Tray, the Handsome Waiter Tray, the Hampden Ugly Waiter Tray, & the Ugly Waiter Tray - this Tray is very popular among collectors. While it i9s usually found with text advertising Hampden Beer (sometimes “Springfield Beer”), the British American Brewing Co. variation is very rare. The chromolithography on this early, Post-Prohibition Advertising Beer Tray is of the VERY highest quality by it does not carry a manufacturer's mark.
This very charming, 1930’s British American Brewing Co. Advertising Tip Tray is not a reproduction, reissue or restrike but is an original 1930’s Tip Tray manufactured and distributed for the Brewery to advertise their Beer.
This rare and original, Tin Lithograph "Ugly Waiter" Advertising Beer Tray is in very good condition and displays nicely. The Chromolithography is bright and bold and the colors rich and warm and very attractive. The surface of the image area is well preserved with a few scattered, small blemishes while the raised rim has some surface scratches and wear as can be seen in the scans below.
