A wonderfully pretty silver, enamels and marcasites necklace and bracelet set, attributed to Bernard Instone, c1930. They are rare pieces indeed and so beautiful. The necklace : the colours are in lovely pastels, in this case turquoise and pale pink with green used for the leaves. The two flowers highlighted with a central marcasite, are also in turquoise and pale pink. This colour match is continued onto the roundels, which sparkle with the two circles of marcasite...s which intersperse the enamelled sections. The colours are sensational.....a fine and delicate necklace, not at all like the chunkier and cheaper reproductions. The necklace is in good order and the only issue is the enamelling on the green leaves, missing in a few places so please check the pictures to make sure you are happy. It does not detract overall, in my opinion. All of the marcasites are present and the silver work / chain is good. She is so rare and looks delicate and feminine when you wear it. One of the roundels is marked "SILVER ENGLAND" on the reverse. The necklace measures approx. 43cm in length.
The bracelet: a wonderfully pretty silver, enamels and marcasites bracelet attributed to Bernard Instone, c1930. There are some issues with it, so even though it could essentially be worn as is, it would repair to its former glory. It is a rare piece and there is a huge amount of work in the bracelet...so much detail, it is difficult to know where to start. There are eight parts to the bracelet, four roundels in pale blue and pale purple enamel work dotted with marcasites and also four foliate and flower panels which are in pastels green for the leaves, pale blue, yellow and pink for the flowers, which are dotted with a marcasite in the centre. There is a lot of detail in each of these delicate foliate panels. The enamelwork is pleasingly intact. The colours are sensational.....a fine and delicate bracelet, not at all like the chunkier and cheaper reproductions. She has issues such as a missing marcasite from a pale pink flower, one marcasite is the wrong size and would need replacing to make it a perfect match. Asides from that the other issues lie with the chain / silver work. Some of the links have been replaced with larger links and need to be matched better in size. Some of the links go through a panel, so please look carefully at the photos to make sure you are happy with it. A remarkable piece -well worth any work you need to do, as she is so rare and looks amazing on the wrist. Any questions please just ask. There is a part STERLING SILVER mark on one roundel's reverse. PLEASE NOTE that the last two images also show the necklace which I am selling separately.
Thank you for looking. Postage by International Tracked and signed-for from here in Italy. The boxes are for display purposes only but I will send in a gift box-thank you!
