Reference Number: Avaluer:155019 |
You are bidding on a VERY NICE set of WW2 German Wehrmacht 10x50 "Panzer" Binoculars! This is a RARE size, being approx. 1 " shorter in length than the standard 10x50. These were brought back by US veteran at the end of the war. The German Army used a wide variety of optical equipment, including a 6x30 (6 power magnification with 30mm objective lens, being the standard issued optics used by all branches of service). Though this ty...pe was the standard, specialized personnel required stronger optics (such as this 10x50), and were issues to personnel on a limited basis.Due to their compact and lightweight design, the Roof Prism style was favoured by most Panzer Tank Crews. Made by Hendsolt Wezlar of a large tooled alloy and aluminum construction, these 10 x 50 power binoculars are in SUPERB used condition! The lens bodies retain about 95% of their original, rough textured, Dunkelgelb/Tan finish. The aluminum end piece fittings retain about 95% of their original finish, and the eye sockets are intact. Some slight chips and wear, but nothing that takes away from the overall appearance. The focus adjustments still function perfectly on both eye pieces (though a bit loose), and the optics are still very clear with NO spotting! The body is well marked with the impressed designation, "Dialyt 10 x 50", and the manufacturer’s code "Hendsolt Wetzlar" (not the standard BMJ code, as this was manufactured pre-1942). Retains the original neck strap, but the strap is broken where it attaches to the binoculars (could be repaired by moving the holes to another position. The VERY INTERESTING feature, is that these are approx 1" shorter in length than the standard 10x50! The case is in EXCELLENT used condition, with only some slight cracking to the belt loop. No carrying straps. Again, as these are pre-1942, no manufacture codes are present. Spring clip features a faint code/marking...but I cannot make it out. Brought back by a US veteran who served in North Africa, it would male a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
