Vintagefold-out 1930 Gulf Refining Company road map of North Carolina andSouthCarolina, printed more than 87 years ago. The map opens to 12" x 18"and has greatdetail on old highway alignments and route numbers, with cartography byH.M. Gousha.
It also shows road surfaces, including paved, gravel, graded earth, and dirt. The bridge fromPoint Harbor to KittyHawk is labeled as "under construction."
On the reverse side there are inset plans of Charlotte, Raleigh, Asheville, Gr...eensboro, andWinston-Salem.
The map was distributed by Gulf in 1930 and is dated on the cover. Thecode letterin the lower corner is D.
One panel has a lubrication chart for more than fivedozendifferent makes of cars, including Auburn, Duesenberg, Essex, Hispana-Suiza, Pierce Arrow, Stutz, Ford Model T, and Whippet, with an illustrationof a Gulf motor oil can.
Condition: There are a couple of old stains;otherwise in very good, lightly usedcondition, complete and intact, with no rips, tears, or writing. Please see the scans and feel free to ask anyquestions.
