Operating under a charter granted to The College of Physicians and Surgeons of the Western District of New York, Fairfield Medical College, as it was commonly known, was the 2nd medical college chartered in New York (1812) and was the 11th chartered in the United States. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of the Western District of New York presented a series of lectures on various medical practices at the College.
