Excellent quality Petoskey stone fossilized coral. Beautiful specimen, uptra-polished to a smooth surface & high shine. Superb fossil "eye" pattern covers the stone's surface in vivid detail. Discovered in nature by me near the Petoskey, Michigan area, where the fossil stone gets it's name. Cleaned, sanded an polished with high care and detail. Fully sealed surface, buffed for a soft and reflective shine.

ABOUT THE PETOSKEY STONE
(AKA HEXAGONARIA PERCARINATA)
_____________________________________SCIENTIFIC: Petoskey stones are the fossilized form of the ancient coral colony, Hexagonaria percarinata. They are known for their six-sided "eyes" which cover its surface. These hexagonal "eyes" are actually the coral's mouth chambers that have been preserved through fossilization. These ancient coral lived during the Devonian Age (around 350 million years ago) in a large, shallow, warm water sea which is now the Great Lakes area of Michigan.
