Hello! Presenting this fantastic antique primitive hand-hammered copper Tankard or Mug. This is a very nice piece, measuring 6 1/2 inches tall by 5 inches wide at the handle. The tankard is made of hand-hammered copper with a dovetail welded seam running up under the handle area; additionally the top flared mouthpiece is also dovetailed at the top of the round mid-body. The top lip is folded over along with the bottom underside edge. The handle is particularly s...pecial as it is made with what appears to be wrought yellow brass, which has a bird figure (or possibly squirrel) at the top of the flared handle. The handle is attached at the top with hammered rivets (nice and tight). For its age it is in very good condition. I estimate this is probably from early 1800's or possibly further back. It's made of fairly thick copper, not flimsy and doesn't bend. A great old piece. Thanks for looking!
