Incredible WW2 WWII US Navy Wet Weather Rain pullover Deck Jacket. Tag says Navy Department Contract NXSX 56551 size Medium. Also stamped USN on the left front chest. Found at the estate of a WW2 Pearl Harbor Survivor. A decorated Navy Serviceman. Made of waterproof canvas material and sealed at the seams.
From what I could find the NXSX and numerical designation place this jacket in use during March / April of 1944. The absolute THICK of the war. The VI-23 stencil signifies the se...rviceman was part of a “fixed wing” outfit, likely an aircraft carrier. The look and feel of this jacket is something that just can’t be reproduced. So authentically vintage, it hurts. I haven’t seen another of these jackets quite like it. The white stenciling gives it that extra wow. It’s priced as such. If it stays with me it won’t hurt my feelings.
Fits US Mens medium to large with plenty of room.
No damage structurally, light staining and possible paint on hood. I haven’t attempted to clean or otherwise tamper with this original historic item.
