Glide Path INDICATOR
SIGNAL CORPS U.S. ARMY
INDICATOR I-101 C
Part of the Instrument Approach System used in late-War, larger USAAF bombers and transports, the Glide Path Indicator was also known by various other names, such as the Instrument Landing Indicator and Blind Landing Indicator.
The Instrument available here was actually removed from one of the Kingman Bombers 70+ years ago. Having come directly from those planes, it never ...received a post-War rebuild and therefore remains in desirable original condition - it still has WWII-correct pointers, colors and markings. It also has a real nice date stamp on the back: SEP 11 1944.
Grease seen on the Cannon plug was used during WWII to prevent galling.
Tested / does not contain radium.
It fits a 3-1/8" hole and weighing just over 2 pounds, it's one of the heavier of the WWII gauges.
As with all DEPOT 41 Instruments, this Glide Path Indicator is offered as a fine used souvenir and it comes complete with 4 period correct brass mounting screws.
