This pocketknife, made of brass/copper, is a hard to find piece.It has a corkscrew, two blades and a cutter/cap lifter.On the blades it’s marked “GLASNER&BARZEN CO GERMANY”, on one side, and “A KASTOR&BROS NEW YORK”.On the handle it’s is marked “DIPLOMAT WHISKEY JUST RIGHT”, on one side, and “Glasner&Barzen Co. Kansas City, Mo.”.The company was established in 1873, in Iowa, by A.H. Glasner. In 1882, the German Jacob Barzen became Glasner’s partner. In ...1884, the company gave up the grocery business and got into liquor business, and in 1903 became owner of the Blue Valley Distillery, in Kansas City, Missouri.“DIPLOMAT” was a brand name used by Glasner&Barzen.
