This is an original antique (1920's) revolving general store countertop gum dispenser made by A.L. Hansen Mfg. Co. for Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. with several patent dates ranging from 1921 - 1928 stamped on one of the metal bars that holds the lid up (shown in the last photo). The dispenser is in the shape of a pentagon with five compartments that hold packs of gum.
Condition is excellent; the entire piece is sturdy, solid, and fully functional. The dispenser swivels easily as intend...ed, the lid lifts and stays in place as intended so the dispenser can be filled, and all five original mirrored glass panels are intact, one covering each compartment (a few inches on the top of each panel is mirrored and the bottom portion is clear.) One of the glass pieces has a small chip on the upper corner that is not obvious. There is no other visible damage to the glass. The entire piece is original including the finish. There is some typical minor wear to the finish including scuffs, scratches, and worn spots, especially along corners and edges, and the entire piece has acquired a naturally aged patina. The chrome bumper around the bottom is attached by tabs that are riveted to the bottom of the dispenser, and one of the end tabs is broken, so that end of the bumper is slightly loose. The damage is not noticeable and the bumper is still securely attached.
The dispenser measures 14 1/2" H x about 8" in diameter, and each of the five compartments measure 3 1/4" L x 5/8" deep x about 11" H. All glass pieces will be removed and wrapped separately to reduce the risk of damage during shipping. All pieces will be packed securely and fully insured during shipping.
