Description: This auction lot consists of a vintage, WWII wooden box, which originally contained ship model boats from the US Navy ship recognition teacher. These were used by pilots to identify ships by silhouette. The box is marked: US NAVY TEACHER British & French Ship Models, Mark 1 Supplement 1. Also included in this auction are 11 original recognition teacher boats as follows: Two #15, Two #27, Two are 6” long, one each #8, #13, #20 and finally 3 additional unnu...mbered boats See my other listings for additional US NAVY TEACHER ship models. One unnumbered 6” boat is marked Comet Eagle. Dimensions: The 2 largest boats are 6” long; the 2 smallest boats are 2 ½” long. The box itself measure 22” long x 18 ½” wide x 6 ½” high.
Condition: Would benefit from additional cleaning as shown in the pictures. The Algerine Class model ship has a broken screw rendering it unattached to the blue board. These boats were originally mounted on board and then would slide into grooves in the box. The box has 2 rope handles. This is a partial set sold “as is”; other ships from the collection may be found elsewhere. Please review the pictures closely as they are considered part of the description.
