This is an excellent original antique Victorian era heavy mohair or horsehair lap robe used on carriages or sleighs. The colors are vivid and the patterns are crisp and bold.
Condition is excellent; there are absolutely no holes, tears, or loose stitching anywhere and both front and back panels show very little wear. The front has a few small white patches where the hair was probably damaged by moths, shown close-up in the 10th photo. The damage is limited to the hairy surface ...only and does not go through the quilt panel. The quilt does not have a musty, smoky, or any other foul odor to it.
Outer dimensions of the blanket are 48" x 56". It will be packed securely and fully insured during shipping.
