Up for sale is a great piece of maritime history. You looking at a 10 ft piece of 8"x 1" cast iron stud link chain. The chain has beautiful patina and crusty character that you can only get from sitting for decades in the belly of a ship, and the salty air of the Patap...sco River and Chesapeake Bay in Baltimore MD. No pieces a like, very unique and one of a kind. The chain was rescued from one of Americas great ship yards, Bethlehem Steel in Sparrows Point, MD., founded in 1887. Sparrows point was the last remaining shipyard of 17 that operated under Bethship until 1990.
During World War II, the Sparrows Point Shipyard built ships as part of the U.S. government's emergency ship building program to help rebuild the British Merchant Navy.
LIBERTY SHIP production was the primary goal of the Sparrows Point yard.

We were privileged enough to be given access to the former Bethlehem Steel property in Sparrows Point, Baltimore, MD., where it served as an industrial giant in the steel, ship and rail industries for decades. We were fortunate enough to recover many items from this industrial giant steel mill, ship and rail yard, ranging from new old stock parts to signs and other collectible ephemera. It's been an honor to play a part in the preservation of the heritage of such a prestigious American manufacturing icon, and one that played a critical role in the building of this great industrial nation, WWII, and the proud blue collar history of the city of Baltimore.
The Bethlehem Steel Corporation was founded in 1857 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and expanded its operations to Baltimore in 1916. The mill at Sparrows Point quickly eclipsed the production levels of the main Pennsylvania plant, and by the middle of the 20th century had been named the largest steel mill in the world. In addition to manufacturing the steel utilized in the building of such hallmarks of American infrastructure as the Golden Gate Bridge and Madison Square Garden, Bethlehem Steel's Baltimore-based Fairfield Shipyard was responsible for building the ships that were instrumental in winning World War II. Although Sparrows Point ceased steel production for good in 2012, the plant is still fondly remembered by many of the tens of thousands of Baltimoreans it employed over the years.

Md Architectural Rescue is a different type of recycling company. We have operated in Baltimore and surrounding areas since 1996. After starting out rescuing fireplace mantles and cast iron door locks from construction dumpsters, we have opened our eyes to may types of waste that are often over looked and fall through the cracks. Our focus is and always will be vintage items of the highest quality. But with our eyes now open we put a lot of effort in bringing you high end collectibles from every industry available and at a very reasonable price. All our items are salvaged and are for the most part American Made. One week we could be in an old School, Brewery, Factory, and the following week at a Shipyard or Power plant, you just never know. Also, one day we may be removing Vintage lighting, the next day Signs and Vintage blueprints and the following day cleaning out a machine shop or high end parts room. We literally have NO idea what we have coming around corner, so make sure you add us to your favorites and check back often.
