HUGE 19TH C ANTIQUE NEEDLEPOINT TAPESTRY WOOLWORK MUSICIANS ANIMALS PILLOWI’m in love with this wool hand stitched needlepoint tapestry. It’s European in origin. It depicts a man and woman playing instruments, him a drum and her a mandolin type instrument. Their faces, arms and hands are done in micro petitpoint. There are animals scattered around, I see two birds, a duck, a pig like animal, and a peacock. There are trees and huge acorns. This is all done in the Jacobean style. The... needlepoint alone measures 17.5” long x 14” wide. The colors are all muted; blue, pink, rose, brown, green, lavender, gray, gold, black and white. I photographed it in natural light and flash. The needlepoint is in immaculate condition as it was stored in an old shipping box and never before used. Around the needlepoint I used an antique French scalloped metallic vestment trim with a dark patina. The fabric front and back is a dusty rose silk. It’s finished off with a large multi colored ball trim in the same muted colors as the needlepoint. This trim couldn’t be more perfect for this needlepoint if I had custom designed the trim myself for this particular needlepoint. The pillow itself measures a whopping 24” x 24” stuffed. I have a 30” feather and down insert in it for a plush look and feel. The entire pillow is lined for extra durability. There is a zipper closure for your convenience. This one of a kind beauty will last for many more centuries and was designed and created to be an heirloom to be treasured and passed down. It is in excellent newly created condition marrying the old (needlepoint and metallic trim) with the new (all the other elements) and comes from a smoke free home.If you are a lover of old textiles and unique accessories this stunning pillow may be just the ticket.
