Ancient Roman Coin Pendant – by B.C.E. Jewelry
Up for auction, is an authentic Silver Antoninianus coin from the Roman Empire – depicting Emperor Gordian III (reverse side is Hercules leaning on a club) .. minted in 241-243ce. Fabricated in 14k Yellow Gold by B.C.E. Jewelry, based in Carmel Valley, CA.
The B.C.E Jewelry maker started making jewelry at a young age, encouraged by her Father who had made some Turquoise rings in the 70’s. Her passion... grew when she studied Art History in College and learned about all the jewelry in ancient civilizations. Fast forward 10 years, and she still draws inspiration from Ancient Greece, Roman, Egyptian and Byzantine jewelry. The name of her business B.C.E. – stands for “before common era”; all pieces are handmade in her studio!
I am a huge jewelry collector who has sold many high-end pieces from brand names such as Malcolm Betts, Linda Lee Johnson, Irene Neuwirth, Tiffany & Company, Cartier, Elizabeth Locke, etc. – all pieces are from my personal collection. I am also a huge Ancient Roman scholar and as such, love pieces like this. Important Note: ‘real’ Ancient Coins are in most cases imperfect (and that is how you know they are real).
