BEAUTIFUL lge ANTIQUE FRENCH EMPIRE PRINTED COTTON CURTAIN DRAPE c1880
Dating from the late 1800s this is a beautiful antique French Empire design printed cotton curtain drape. A large fluid confection that is fluid and drapes superbly with frilled edges. If not to be used again for a drape there is more than enough wonderful condition period textile here for many projects and the fabric is also strong enough for an upholstery jo...b. So a good way to obtain a large amount of period textile. The printed cotton is all very strong and the panel is made up of three joined loom widths. The left hand edge and the bottom edges are frilled. The top edge is gathered with small rings still in place. The background is soft old white and the design is soft mauves, pale rose and soft blue grey. The design carries borders of flowers and vines with acanthus leaf scrolls between borders of what look like gathered drapes or pillars with pearl beaded bands. The panel measures: Width 234cms Length 314cms The drape is all hand stitched and a genuine period confection. All the items in my listings, unless described otherwise, are either vintage or antique. They have all had a 'past' life, a history to tell - and this inevitably affects their condition through use and handling. I do my best to make my descriptions as accurate as possible but please do not bid if you are looking for pristine items; you will not find them in my auctions!
