A beautiful antique round tablecloth measuring approximately 65 inches across or diameter. This is an approximate measurement and when measured at different diameters may be a little less or more. Color is soft white.Hand made of embroidered cutwork linen with figural point de venise lace and figural filet lace inserts. The point de venise inserts are detailed allegorical scenes of the four seasons, Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn. The first photo shows Winter ...with a woman warming her hands by the fire, then Spring with ribbons, Summer with abundant flowers and leaves and Autumn shows the figures gathering branches. Stunning and rare to find the allegorical seasons depicted in point de venise lace. In-between the ovals of the seasons are filet lace inserts with facing nudes as shown in photo 11. The center insert is filet lace with 4 children playing, one with a hoop and stick, another appears to be flying a kite. This tablecloth comes directly from estate storage and has not been laundered or cleaned. Selling as found. I tried to show the the largest(which are not very large at all) and most apparent (which are not really very obvious in person) spots in photos 3, 9, and 12. Please expect a few other scattered yellowed or light brownish spots that are similar, lighter or smaller than those shown in the photos. Possibly some minor water spots. The darkest spot is pictured in the last photo on a leg of a figure in one of the filet lace inserts, looks like some brown woven threads. There are some pulls in the linen here and there on the edges of the embroidery, probably from the embroidering process, examples pictured in photo 8. I found a few repaired or unraveled/broken brides( the strands in the lace), example of one is shown in picture 9. There are also a few tiny and/or very small holes, some are pin holes, in the linen and lace, not shown in close photos. You will need to search for these imperfections, they do not detract from the beauty of this tablecloth.
