"Steve Jarnot was born in 1904 in Holdingford, Minnesota... Later, he opened a blacksmith's shop in Annandale, Minnesota." "He began making decoys shortly after... coming to Brainerd. He made two sizes of Sunfish and a northern pike decoy. Most were left unpainted, but were varnished. The decoy fins were, however, decorated with painted red lines. Decoys were made in the winter, and he probably made hundreds of them. Steve enjoyed spearing on Bay Lake near Brainerd. He stopped making decoys in 1985 when he became ill. Mr Jarnot died in 1991.
