There is a similar piece at the Colonial Williamsburg Museum, Cream-color Kerchief, 1700s in the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum (Colonial Williamsburg) -- silk and metallic thread needlework on silk. It has similar filling stitches and is considered to be European: Accession No 1954-2. Also another at the Museum of Fine Art in Boston. It is referred to as an 18th Century neckerchief possibly Turkish: Accession No. 41.776.
