For sale is this antique Atha blacksmiths chipping hammer, weighing 1lb.5.3 ounces overall, with handle. Signed with the famous Atha "A" within the horseshoe logo, the head measures 5-7/8" long with a 1-1/8" straight peen, and a 1-1/8" wide cross peen. The steel is in excellent overall condition, with some monor touch up work needed on the slightly splayed edge of the cross peen end, as shown in the 9th and 10th pictures. The 12-1/2" handle is sound, and solid, but somewhat chewed unde...r the head, as shown in the last picture. Atha stopped producing under this name in 1914, making this hammer over 100 years old. Hard to believe the condition of this hammer, considering its age and purpose. Please view all of the pictures to determine condition for yourself.
