You're looking at a RARE MEXICAN SHOE SHINE BOX PAINTED RED WOOD & BRASS WITH BENCH PRIMITIVE FOLK ART. These kind of boxes were used and decorated by bootblacks, around the 1960's a very common job at Mexico City. The box and bench have been decorated with some brass tin, brass plaques and brass handles. The box and bench are in pre-owned condition with signs of wear as scratches, stains, paint chips, wood peeling, some cracks, some of its brass pins are missing, and som...e soiling.The wood box it has been painted in a red color, and it shows some stains, scratches, wood peeling, some cracks, some holes and some soiling. It also has black shoe paint all around. It has a secret drawer at its down area, see picture 3. Its brass tin lateral areas show some scratches and stains. Its upper brass tin has some missing areas. Its brass decorative items show some stains and scratches, and there are missing some of them, due to the holes in the wood at different areas. One brass item is in the secret drawer. At its inside area it hasn't been painted and it shows dust, soiling, scratches, peeling and stains. It measures 7 1/4" tall x 9 3/4" long x 5 3/4" approx. With the upper shoe handle it measures 11 1/4" tall approx. and with it brass lateral sides it measures 13 1/2" long approx.The bench shows signs of wear as scratches, stains, missing brass pins, wood peeling, paint chips and some soiling. At each lateral side, it has a brass plaque, which shows some scratches and stains. The leather seat area shows signs of wear, the leather is worn at some areas and it shows scratches, some holes, some cracks, peeling and stains; is also missing some of its brass pins. It measures 7" tall x 9 1/2" long x 4 1/4" approx.I found it at a Mexican Flea Market.
