Cypraea Guttata Azumai: CHOICE RARE SPECIMEN
Original Description:
Cypraea Guttata Azumai #2) 47.7mm,  Schilder 1960,  CHOICE RARE SPECIMEN.  Trawled 100-150 meters in the East China Sea.  A beautiful, mature golden shell with a heavily calloused side.   Dr. Burgess, in his book The Living Cowrie, published 1970, said that to his knowledge, there were less than 20 known specimens of cypraea guttata in the world.  At that time, you couldn't buy one if you wanted to.  Then he added an accurate prophecy, ...stating that the shell might become more abundant once the habitat of the cowrie was found...  Seeing as I have 7 cypraea guttata sitting in my collection at the moment,  (and two more for sale here on eBay, ) I think we can consider Dr. Burgess's prophecy fulfilled.  It is amazing though.  In the late 60's it was, in Hawaii, easier to own a cypraea rashleighana than it was to own a cypraea guttata, or a conus gloriamaris, or a murex alabaster,  to name just a few... and now the reverse is true.  Truly amazing! This specimen has two small imperfections, it has grains of sand embedded in the callous and a grain of sand incorporated into one of the teeth of the shell,  again only noticeable in the photos (you really have to look for them)--the shell itself displays beautifully, and this once extremely rare beauty will look wonderful on your shelf! The perfect shell for a first-rate collection...

Combined shipping.  If you buy more than one item from us you will save on the shipping.  There are two ways you can request combined shipping.  The easiest is to just click the button on the top right of your order that says, "REQUEST TOTAL."  Of course, if you are wondering WHY you don't see that button, let me give you a little tip---that button is available only on the "desktop" version of eBay!  If there is no button to push, it means you are doing what 99% of the people shopping on eBay are doing, you're using your cell phone.  Why eBay thinks no one uses their phone to shop with is a mystery that has no answer, but maybe we can change that.  If you get a chance, leave feedback with eBay requesting that they put that button BACK on their mobile app.  That's right, back.  It used to be there, but for some reason eBay recently removed it, (probably removed by some old guy at eBay who's wondering why nobody likes him, huh.)  Anyhow, to request combined shipping, open up the desktop version of eBay on your laptop, and voila, there it is!Second way to get combined shipping is for you to pay the total, and when we receive your order we will, in a flash, issue a refund for any excess shipping charges.  I've used both methods myself while shopping on eBay, and so far everyone I've bought from has been great!  But then that makes perfect sense if you think about it.  After all, they want me to come back!  And I want you to come back too, so I WON'T be overcharging you for shipping...
As for normal disclaimers and such... I have tried my best to make sure the photos are accurate color-wise, but as everyone knows, color is a... well, it's tough.  Between my phone changing the color due to the color of the shell, the background, the lighting AND it changing when I post it on eBay, and then knowing that your phone or laptop is going to do weird things to it color-wise too, well, let's just say, I tried my best, and I hope you will think so too when you hold your new beauty in your hands for the first time.Second, like everyone else selling on eBay, I live and die by the feedback you leave, (please leave me fives!) so, with that in mind, please remember that I am anxiously sitting by my phone in case someone needs me to help them with something.  Being retired, I have more time on my hands than any self-respecting guy my age should have, so unless I'm busy rubbing it in (to some poor fool who's still working, ) I will happily get back to you pronto...And you know, it is surprisingly hard to work the fact that I'm not working into every conversation, but I try!Anyhow, if you have read this far, you have my guy-doing-nothing apologies, and a heartfelt wish from those of us at Island Shells of happy collecting.  Enjoy your new treasures and remember,  home is where your collection is!
