WWI Era US Army AEF Mode of 1916 Bacon or Meat Can Tin Container - Very Nice Condition Up for auction is a WWI Era US Army AEF Model of 1916 Bacon or Meat Can Tin Container. This container is used, see photo's for Condition.  The outside of the tin has some discoloration from age, the interior is in good condition.  It has no major dings or dents.  There is no pitting. They are marked Model o...f 1916.  Considering it's age, it weathered the ravages of time extremely well.  Condition will vary with each example.This Bacon or Meat Can container was issued to each US Doughboy.  The container had a tight fitting lid.  It was used to store "Salt Back" which was a salted stip of bacon.  They were also use to store whatever food products the soldier could secure.NOTE:  On multiple quantity listings, the item in the photo is a representative sample of the inventory that is available,   it is NOT the exact item you will receive. If you collect WWI Personal Items, you need to have this in you pack.  Please visit our Ebay Store and signup for our FREE Newsletter!   Please see photo.
