not cracked or split. no bottles have to add your own. there is a key but the lock does not function properly. if you tip the box the lock will slide to lock side and you need the key to open so do not keep the key inside the box as the lock sometimes may not slide into the open position just a precaution to keep key outside of box maybe with a tassel on it for reminders. the interior fabric is original and a bit worn but not beyond, it has a split in fabric right at the fo...ld of hinge side of box. large size box at 15 1/2 inch across I show with tape measure so you can see size. it is 9 3/4 in deep and 6 1/2 inch high. brass on all corners and very thin string inlay on the top and a brass monogram plate that was never used.
