This beautiful SCHIONNING & ELGAARD Randers Danish side chair is available to own. It is in very good condition with just a nick here and there and nothing more than to be expected of 50+ years of respectful use. The seat-cover does not look original, as we've not previously seen any S&E chairs done in 'seamed' leather. The leather is very soft and supple. No indicators of drying, cracking or potential to peal.The re-work was done well, however and although it looks to be newis...h, the period-correct tacks (see photos), makes us consider that the chair could just be extremely well-preserved.
We do know it spent it's entire life (no garage or storage time), here in Southern California where the mild climate fluctuation and moderate seasonal change tends to be more forgiving to the woods of antique furniture compared to other, more weather-volatile regions of the United States.
