68" TALL & VINTAGE Mahogany Drop- Front DOOR SECRETARY DESK
Maker's label - The Daisy Line, Faribault, Minnesota. This was produced in the 1910-1920's by The Peterson Art Furniture Company who owned a number of local furniture and lamp factories in Faribault, Minn.
With an Upper Glass- Doored, 3- SHELF STORAGE CABINET BOOKSHELF with LOVELY DECORATIVE FRET WORK over A SLANT FRONT DOOR THAT WHEN OPENED BECOMES A LARGE WRITING SURFACE MID -SECTION WITH 6 INT...ERIOR CUBBY HOLES
ALL OF THIS IS ABOVE THE LOWER SECTION OF ONE LARGE - FRONT DRAWER.
THE SLANT-FRONT DOOR AND ALL 4 DRAWERS HAVE WORKING LOCKS.
THE TOP CABINET HAS NICE, DECORATIVE EDGE MOLDING TRIM .
NICELY TURNED LEGS AND CROSS SUPPORT.
ONE VINTAGE BARREL KEY WORKS WELL IN THE BRASS ESCUTCHEONS OF THE LARGE DRAWER AND THE SLANT FRONT DESK DOOR.
The Top Cabinet section is 23" Wide. It is 10" Deep x 28" Tall. Inside are 3 shelves (2 are movable to a location you desire while the bottom is a stationary 3rd shelf surface. The glass door is decorated with very attractive wood fret work. I really like the original thumb press door latch.
The traditional slant front Desk section offers a writing space area of 22" Wide x 19" Deep. The slant front door has beautiful exterior graining and nice carved decorative patterns. It is supported by two large brass hinges that open while you use the writing surface and two smaller hinges. Inside are 6 vertical open storage cubbies: 4 vertical cubbies flank the 2 central horizontal shelf cubbies. All brass drawer pulls are decorative tear-drop like with decorative top caps. Sturdy brass hardware hinges and lever clamps control the Top Book Case section Door and the Slant Front door's opening and closing. All hinges and cubby drawer pulls are Brass.
CONDITION: Overall in VERY GOOD, attractive appearance. Please study my photographs for a few minor spots or scratches - these are truly commensurate with age and hard to see (inside where doors/drawers lightly and properly slide together; and on the writing surface where there are a few tiny flecks.
