This pendant just can't take a bad picture. I had so much fun taking photos of this incredible beauty. Each one turned out better than the last. I hd trouble choosing which ones to include. This is an heirloom piece and that definitely comes across in the pics.
I don't know when I have seen such a wonderful emerald. Its GREEN. These pics are not enhanced. Its the color of life itself. Its CLEAR with minimal veil like inclusions-- just enough to remind you of its earth mined orig...ins. It glows. Its everything you could ever want in an emerald. The stone is an old rectangular cushion cut measuring about 5x7mm and estimated to weigh about .85 carats. Its bezel setting has milgrained edges.
Now let's talk about those diamonds! This pendant has sort of a rectangular daisy floral shape with a little "crown" of diamonds. There are 16 diamonds total, all old mine cuts with small tables and chunky proportions. The stones around the emerald are each about 3mm in diameter and estimated to weigh about .80 carats. There are an additional 4 diamonds in the "ribbon" directly above the rectangular halo, each about 1.5mm in diameter and two 2mm diamonds in the "leaves" at the top of the piece. Total diamond weight is estimated at .96 carats (gem weight overall is estimated at 1.66 carats. The diamonds are wonderfully white, H color, VS2 to SI1 in clarity and overall just very fine quality.
The pendant is 25x14mm overall and the bail adds another 4mm to the length. It is unmarked but tests for platinum. The halo and top section are hinged together for fluid movement. The chain is 14K with a lobster claw clasp-- a modern addition. Its white gold and marked/tested for 14K.
Condition is quite good for this wonderful piece. The emerald shows some surface wear and natural pits under magnification but looks fantastic to the naked eye. This is a wonderful piece and would make a superlative gift. It weighs 6.1 grams (chain and pendant weighed together.)
