This is a previously owned blonde wood BUFFET AND EXTENSION TABLE COMBINATION made by SAGINAW FURNITURE SHOPS INC., circa 1951-53. Designed by Harry B. Gaines. It has a two large square handles on the cabinet doors. The one on the right has a small sliver missing at the bottom and there are tiny veneer chips on the base below the doors.
When closed the buffet measures 40” wide x 20” deep x 30�...�� high. It comes with 6 folding leaves that are stored inside the buffet in fitted slots on one side. The other side has a shelf for dishes and a drawer for silverware.The front pulls out and leaves can be added to extend the table. With 1 leave in place it measures 35 1/8” deep, 2 leaves is 50 1/8” deep, 3 leaves 65 1/8” deep, (5’ 5”) 4 leaves 80 1/8” (6’ 8”) deep, 5 leaves 95 1/8” (7’ 11”) deep, and with all 6 leaves in the extension table is 110” long or deep (9’ 2”).
It’s great for a small space and yet perfect for a large dinner party or gathering. There is some typical light wear to the finish on some of the leaves (those used most frequently) but all in all they are in very good condition. This furniture was designed for small homes or apartments after World War II.
