VINTAGE*WOOD HANDLED*BRAIDED LEATHER*BULL WHIP. Here's another item passed down to my husband through his family and I have no idea how old it really is, I do know it's at least 60 years old. It's in good condition, the leather is not cracked or dried out that I can tell. If you check the pictures, I highly recommend you do this carefully, you'll see where there is a repair that was made with wire and that the leather of the popper has also been replaced. At th...e end of that replaced leather is the original braided nylon part of the popper, the part that makes the good sound. The wood handle, from the end to where it meets the leather is approximately 6 1/2", about 60" from end to end of braided leather, the replaced leather of the popper is about 11" and nylon popper is about 11". As I said and the picture shows, there is a repair made in the braided leather, it was made with copper wire so it isn't very noticeable. The whip is old and the further from the handle you get, the more wear there is since it was actually used. The fact that I know who gave it to my husband and that it was used, helps me in providing the current estimated age. It may be much older than that but I can't be sure. I will provide the history I know of upon request. The story is too long to tell here. I started to replace the leather in the popper with some that matches, from an old broken bridle rein, but was concerned my old hands wouldn't be able to do it.
